Cloud Drives (CD)
What is a Cloud Drive?
A Cloud Drive is a widely used service today, this service offers a storage space that cannot be affected by local errors in our devices, and that is a great quality that Cloud Drives have. The user can upload any file they want to be stored, and after that, they can either share it with some other user, leave it stored to avoid losing it if something happens to their device, or download it at any other time they want.
Cloud Drives usually have some free storage for all users who purchase this service, but when this space fills up, Cloud Drive offers the user to expand their storage to continue storing files, but this expansion requires an external payment to be able to apply, most offer quite a bit of extra storage for a fair price.
Cloud Drives have a group of servers that are always running, they keep the files that we enter online, that's why we always have access to them. Among the Cloud Drive services we have:
- OneDrive (This service belongs to the company Microsoft)
- Google Drive (This service belongs to the company Google)
- Dropbox (This service does not belong to any company, since it was developed by Drew Houston)
- iCloud (This service belongs to the company Apple Inc.)
Benefits of Cloud Drive
The Cloud Drive as mentioned above are quite useful, which is why they have many benefits and reasons why it should be used, among them are:
- They are very convenient: Cloud Drives tend to be much more convenient than any other type of local storage device, and these devices if they are misused or there is a power failure they run the risk of being permanently damaged, and with that comes the loss of the information they have inside, but with the Cloud Drive this problem does not occur, since if a user stores something inside them there is no risk of losing their information, as long as they have access to the internet they will be able to find their files just how they left them. Then it is convenient to keep the information in a Cloud Drive than in an external device.
- Usability: this service has fairly extensive usability since it can be used both to store the files that we want, as well as to share files with other users, this can be applied to share files in our work without the need for us to use flash memory, since sharing the download link is much easier, it can also be applied in the same way in the academic field, etc.
- They are safe: Cloud Drives are quite safe, speaking of keeping our files out of the risk of being lost since as mentioned before, this service consists of a server that is always on, so we will always have visibility for our information.
